Hey 🙂

I’m not interested in the 9-to-5. I’m not interested in working 50, 60, 70, 80-hour weeks. I’m not interested in being busy.

What I am interested in: being effective. Doing my best work over a long period of time. Doing work that fascinates me.

That requires a different way of thinking. Here are some of the things I think about every single day to make sure I’m approaching my work the right way.

  • Less is more.
  • Less, but better.
  • Subtracting, simplifying, leads to sanity.
  • Quality over quantity.
  • The law of the vital few.
  • The 80/20 principle.
  • 10x is easier than 2x.
  • Important and NOT urgent vs. important AND urgent.
  • Deep work: 20% of your time drives 80% of your outcomes.
  • Sequential vs. all at once.
  • The shortest path.
  • The One Thing.
  • The Magic of Thinking Big.
  • Let your future dictate your present.
  • The smallest possible audience (audience of one).
  • Who, not how: working through people.
  • Team performance over individual performance.

I know it’s far more likely that we add to and make things more complicated. We have to fight against that. Often the simple answer is the answer.

Over to you…

  • Pick something you know you shouldn’t be doing. Delegate it. Delete it. Automate it. Get rid of it.
  • Out of all the things you’re doing, what’s the one thing that ONLY YOU can do?
  • Out of all the things you’re doing, if you had to pick one thing — the one thing that, if you did it, would make everything else easier or unnecessary — what would it be?
