[Journal] 31 July 26

Hey 🙂

We’re heading into August now, and one of the things I think about a lot, month to month, is how we get a little bit better. Not a big overhaul — just tightening things up, getting clearer on priorities, and being a bit smarter than we were the month before.

This month, one of the things we did with the team was remind ourselves where we want to be in 30 months, what we’re setting out to achieve in August specifically, and what the goals and leading indicators of success look like.

With that out of the way, the next thing we did — to improve on what we’ve done in previous months, and what’s making a real difference this month — was get each person to answer one question for themselves: if there are three things I could do this month to contribute to the growth of the company, what would they be?

Not everything that’s important. Just three. It forces clarity, cuts the overwhelm, and gives people a real sense of how their work ladders up to where the business is going.

So here’s your prompt for the weekend:

  • Look at your goals for the year.
  • Think about what you want August to achieve.
  • Now narrow it to three. There’s a lot that’s important — but if you could only choose three priorities for the month ahead, what would they be? The three things that would move your business forward the most.

Write them down. Get specific. Let that be your focus for August.

Have a great weekend.
